Coach Communications and Meeting

Upper St Clair Athletics mandates the use of SportsYou for all communications between athletes and coaches. We’re asking that all parents who want to receive communications to add their contact info. It is very important that all swimmers and divers sign up as this method will be used for all communications with the coaches. Texting the coaches is no longer permitted. You can find instructions at SportsYou Instructions.

The coaches are holding a Zoom call with members of the coaching staff this Monday (November 27) at 7 p.m. Please see below for the zoom call link/details. The purpose of the call is to talk generally about the season and primarily to answer any questions you may have—especially for those families that are new to high school swimming and diving.

We would also like to welcome the new assistant swim coach!

Coach Daniele Tirabassi is a two-time Venezuelan Olympic swimmer who has been coaching since his retirement from competitive swimming in 2016. He began coaching with PEAQ this past summer and we are so excited to welcome him to the USC Swim and Dive Team!

Below is the schedule of events that have been planned so far:

Apparel Fitting: Thursday, 10/26/2023
First day of practice: Monday, 11/20/2023
Team Pictures: Tuesday, 12/5/2023
Senior Recognition Night: Wednesday, 2/7/2024

* We are still finalizing dates for the pasta dinners, winter training breakfast, team poster painting, and team banquet.

Registration and Dues

Please get your swimmer and diver registered and pay dues ASAP! (Registration Link ) The Boosters depends on the dues to provide our athletes with team apparel, travel meet/WPIAL food and snacks, senior recognition gifts, WPIAL/States apparel and bags for qualifiers, transportation for out of district meets and allows us to hold a banquet at the end of the season for all coaches, athletes and their parents.

School District Athletic Fee

Please also visit www.uscsdathletics.com to pay the school district athletic fee online on or after November 17th. This one-time $75 fee supports the team suit and caps. It also contributes $50 back to you in a tech suit discount later in the season.

Athlete Physicals

Athlete physicals need to be completed before the first day of practice, Monday, November 20th. Those athletes whose physicals have not been done by November 20th, WILL NOT be able to attend practice! Healthy Roster can be accessed on the desktop at www.healthyroster.com or as an app on any smartphone. Please reach out to the Boosters if you have any questions regarding physicals/Healthy Roster.

Volunteering

It takes a village to run the team meets and events! With 17 graduating seniors, many of our chair positions will be open next year AND there will be a large loss of volunteers. All of our current committee chairs are ready and willing to train volunteers in their respective areas for next year’s season. We need underclassmen parents to step up now to ensure the success of future seasons. Committee descriptions and chair contact info are in the volunteer section on the new website. Besides committee chairs, there are many other opportunities to help, from the pasta dinners, winter training breakfast to home meet timers. Signup links will be sent out by the chairs and will be available on the website. All volunteers who have contact with the athletes must have up-to-date volunteer clearances. Information on obtaining and checking clearances can be found at www.uscsd.k12.pa.us/volunteer. Please forward your clearance information onto our Membership Chair, Suzanne Meyer at suemey@gmail.com.

WPIAL Dive Results

This past Saturday the USC diving team’s Addison and Delaney Burnette, along with Kobe Yuyi took part in the WPIAL Diving Championship at North Allegheny. Addison brought home 6th place, finishing her final diving meet for the Panthers. This was the forth time that Addison has appeared in the championship meet. Both Delaney and Kobe competed in their first championship meet. Delaney persevered through her first season with the team and finished 22nd in the WPIAL! Kobe completed his first season with an 11th place finish. A huge congratulation is in order for all three of these individuals! Collectively they earned much needed points for the Swim team going into their WPIAL Championship meet later this week. Way to go Addison, Delaney and Kobe! We are so very proud of you!
