Upcoming Lifeguard Certification and Recertification

Please see the message below from PEAQ:

We are once again excited to be offering lifeguard certification and recertification at all three of our South Hills sites. Please note that you must be 15 to take the course, and registration will open on 2/24. To register, go to the Swim School tab on the PEAQ website and choose a location.  These are the dates the courses will take place: USC – 4/3 – 4/7, CM – 4/17 – 4/21,
CV – 5/8 – 5/12. Visit the website for more specific information on course requirements.  Questions can be directed to Coach John Richards. 

Weekly Update, 2/19/24

Hello Team! Below are important reminders and upcoming events for the week of 2/19/24:

  • The practice schedule for this week have been sent out by Coach Dave. A calendar of practices and events is also available on our website.
  • The WPIAL pasta dinner will be held on Wednesday, February 21st at 5PM in the high school cafeteria. All swim and dive athletes are invited. Volunteers are asked to drop off food between 4:30 and 5pm. Pasta Dinner Sign Up
  • Attention parents who painted WPIAL posters yesterday and left them to dry. Pease remember to pick them up or have your athlete grab them!
  • The WPIAL 3A Diving Championship is this week (2/24) at North Allegheny HS. Best of luck to ALL our divers!
  • The WPIAL 3A Swimming Championship is next week (2/29 & 3/1) at University of Pittsburgh’s Trees Pool. Ticket and food information will be sent out soon!

Mt. Lebo Meet Recap

Congrats to the USC Swim and Dive teams on their wins against Mt. Lebanon last night! Final scores were Boys, 98-88 and Girls, 102-84. Highlights of the meet include:

  1. New WPIAL cuts- A big congratulations to USC senior, Sofia Montoya for getting her first ever WPIAL cuts in both the 200 and 500 free in this last dual meet of the season!
  2. Section Champs- Both boys and girls came away with the Section Champ title. This is the first time since 2017 that the girls’ team won the title. The boys last won the title in 2022.

We are so proud of our athletes! They absolutely came together as a team and gave it everything they had!

Weekly Update, 2/12/24

Hello Team! Below are important reminders and upcoming events for the week of 2/12/24:

  • The practice schedule for this week have been sent out by Coach Dave. A calendar of practices and events is also available on our website.
  • The last pasta dinner of the regular season will be held Tuesday, 2/13/24 at the Bishop residence. (1748 Hathaway Lane) Volunteers are asked to drop food off between 4:30-5:00pm. Pasta Dinner Sign Up
  • The last meet of the regular season is home versus Mt Lebanon on Wednesday, 2/14/24. The meet starts at 5pm with diving. We still need a few timers! Please see the link to sign up: Timer Sign Up
  • Youth Night will be held this Wednesday during the meet versus Mt Lebo. Students in USC gear will get free admission! We will have “Chuck the Duck”, a photo booth and Valentine’s Day treats available for purchase! Spread the word and let’s PACK THE POOL!

Peters and Fox Chapel Meet Recap

Swim & Dive Team Wins Three of Four vs Peters Township and Fox Chapel

The boys and girls Swimming & Diving teams have continued their successful seasons starting with section wins vs Peters Township on February 1. The team rewrote the pool record board at Peters Township with pool records in the following events: boys and girls 200 medley relay, boys and girls 400 free relay, boys 200 free relay, Kaitlyn Connors – 50, 100 and 500 freestyle, Amanda Aidar – 200 IM, Kendell Drew – 100 back; Nazar Zoukovski – 50 free and 100 free and 100 fly, Ben Whiteford – 50 and 100 back, Griffin Tomsheck – 100 breast.

On Tuesday, February 6 the teams faced a very strong Fox Chapel squad at USC. The boys were victorious while the girls competed hard in a losing effort. Event winners for the Panthers include the boys medley relay, Ben Whiteford (50 free, 100 back), Delaney Burnette (Diving), Amanda Aidar (100 fly, 100 back), Liam Tomb (100 fly), Kaitlyn Connors (100 free), Whit Burns (100 free), and the boys 400 free relay.

The girls team record is currently 6-3 while the boys are 8-1 on the season. The last dual meet is Wednesday, February 14 at home vs. Mt. Lebanon, where the victor in both meets will once again win the Section title. The meet starts at 5 p.m.
