Important Information for Parents of Rising Freshmen: Swim and Dive Booster Meeting Recap
Dear Parents,
We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to provide a recap of last night’s Booster meeting for parents of rising freshmen joining the high school swim and dive team.
Firstly, we want to extend a warm welcome to all new faces and express our gratitude to those familiar ones who joined us. It was wonderful to see such enthusiastic participation.
During the meeting, we discussed the vital role of the Booster Club in supporting our swim and dive team. Our mission is to ensure our athletes have everything they need to succeed, both in and out of the pool. From fundraising to logistical support for meets and events, we are dedicated to their success.
For freshmen registration, we anticipate the dues to remain the same as last season, totaling $325, which covers various expenses. Additionally, there is a USC athletic fee of $75, which includes the team suit and caps. Registration emails will be sent out by Chair Wendy Meyer in early Fall. Also note that the USC Athletic Fee registration opens in November (date TBA) and can be found online at USC Athletic Department.
Athlete physicals need to be completed before the first practice. USC uses the app Healthy Roster for athletic training and injury tracking, and this is where medical information, insurance and physicals need to be entered and uploaded. HealthyRosterInfo
Communication will primarily be through the booster blog updates for important information regarding meets and parent meetings. Athletes and parents are required to use the SportsYou app for communication with any of the coaches. Weekly schedules will be sent out by Coach Dave every Sunday. Regular practice attendance is strongly encouraged, and any absences should be communicated through the SportsYou app. SportsYouInfo
Financial matters and fundraising efforts were also discussed. The current account balance is $8,571.50, with plans to allocate $3000 towards purchasing the records board for the USC HS pool. Fundraising opportunities throughout the season are open for discussion.
Volunteer opportunities were presented, with vacant positions including Vice President, Program Chair, and Fundraising Chair. Please refer to the signup if you would like to volunteer: 2024-2025
USC Swim Dive Volunteer SignUp. Stepping into these roles is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our team’s success.
Let’s not forget the invaluable role of our coaches, who are the backbone of our team. Swim coaches are Dave Schraven (coachdave@peaqpgh.org), Mike Densmore (michaeljdensmore@gmail.com), and Megan Bilko (coachmegan@peaqpgh.com). The dive coach is Todd Hillman (todd@toddhillman.com).
We concluded the meeting with an open discussion and Q & A session, inviting feedback and suggestions from parents.
Thank you all for attending the meeting. Your support and involvement are crucial as we work together to make this upcoming season a fantastic one for our rising freshmen and the entire swim and dive team.
